Hosting
This site runs on a server operated by me in Germany. No content delivery network, no external fonts, and no third-party scripts are used. Nothing is loaded from external servers when you view this site.
Server log files
Each request is recorded in a log file containing: a shortened IP address, date and time, the requested page, the referring page, and the browser and operating system reported by your browser. The IP address is truncated before it is written — the final block of an IPv4 address and everything beyond the first three groups of an IPv6 address are discarded, so no complete address is ever stored. The legal basis for this processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interests), namely the secure operation of the website, troubleshooting, and anonymous statistical analysis. Logs are used only in aggregate and are not combined with other data.
Retention period
Server log files are rotated monthly and deleted after twelve months at the latest, unless an entry is required for the investigation of a security incident. Rotation and deletion run automatically on the server; no manual step is involved. No full IP address is stored at any point, since the address is truncated before the entry is written.
Reach measurement
Visitor statistics are produced from these shortened log entries using GoAccess, running on the same server. No cookies are set, no tracking pixels are used, and no data leaves the server. Because nothing is stored on or read from your device for this purpose, no consent banner is required.
Local storage
If you switch between the light and dark colour scheme, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it. This never leaves your device and is not used for analysis. It is stored only because you asked for it, and can be cleared at any time in your browser settings.

Links to DOIs, LinkedIn, ORCID and YouTube open on those providers' own sites. Simply visiting this page does not transmit data to those providers. Once you follow such a link, their own privacy policies apply.
Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability where applicable, and to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Note that because IP addresses are truncated on arrival, log entries cannot be traced back to you, so requests relating to them cannot usually be fulfilled individually.

Why there is no Impressum
This is a private, non-commercial page presenting my own academic and professional work. It offers no goods or services, carries no advertising, and generates no revenue, so the disclosure duty under § 5 DDG does not apply. For any enquiry, please use the email address above.
